Lake

We do a recce of launching options. Here is a picture of the lake were I took an RYA course. This is Thamesmead boating lake. The building at the waters edge is a pub, in the high wind on the day of my lesson, the boat I was in collided with that pub, even though we had an instructor on board. All the concrete makes me concerned for the thin plywood of Skylark and my lack of sailing skills.

Sail

A trial run of the sail. The mast is too tail under the ancient apple tree to move freely, but we get the idea.

Rudder

Positioning rudder with Optimist pintle and gudgeons. The long hot summer seems to be over and I am getting lots of practise bailing out the tarpaulin.
