Re-jigged Sail for Skylark

Not the finest sail on the Lake. A scaffolding-plastic version of the original calico sail, which disappointingly did not catch wind at all, this sail still needs some fine tuning and acts as a prototype, much to the embarrassment of the boy.

What happened to Swift?

DSC05299 DSC05300

What happened to ‘Swift’? The boat that will have a cabin, here re-imagined in the back garden. Re-found from various storage places, no further along since she was started a year ago. I cannot find anywhere with enough room to continue. The back garden is not big enough, and would involve a crane to lift it over the house anyway. I have heard of that being successful in the 1970’s in a garden nearby, and the owners then sold up and set off around the world, but that is not quite my ambition, mine is more bobbing up and down on the tide, moored fairly locally. Maybe she will become a very tiny caravanette, a small shed, or a large coffin…

New Boat Project

DSC05199

A  great new project, a beautiful wooden sailing boat. This is a ‘Heron’ boat, now affectionately known as ‘Patrick’, a gift from the boat yard, she was about to be scrapped. So already built, but with one or two little problems…
